Hi there! Welcome to my blog! My name is Thistle Connolly, at least on the internet. I’m a neurodivergent academic, and I’m also legally blind. I believe I’m autistic, but was diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder instead, as well as anxiety, OCD and—later—ADHD. The ADHD diagnosis is tentative, because of my visual impairment. I have Retinopathy of Prematurity, and it impacts my ability to process what I see. Because of all the ambiguity surrounding my neurology, I feel that neurodivergent is the best lable for me. I’m an academic, specifically a historian, and I teach at a private Christian university. I teach non-US History, and my research interests include European history, women’s history, U.S. History since 1877, 19th and 20th century Irish history and disability history. I’m a Christian as well. I attend the Church of Christ, and I enjoy writing fiction. My novels and stories typically focus on marginalized characters in a historic setting, with a dash of fantasy, or magical realism, thrown in. My blog will likely be a mix of topics, relating to my various interests, but I suspect academic topics will feature most prominently. If you’d like to get in touch, check out my contact page or drop a comment on my posts. Thanks for reading!
